LifeProTip: Don’t wait for the perfect moment or the perfect way to do something good for someone. If you feel like saying or doing something nice, act on it now. A text emoji, a one line mail, or a like on social media is all it takes to bring a smile to someone’s face.
And if you feel like doing something bad, wait a day. Set a reminder for 24 hours if you need to. And think of it as waiting for the perfect time to do it well. Chances are, you may not want to do it or choose to do something different 24 hours later. But if you still feel the same way after waiting, at least you tried.
This is not just a feel good message. Research shows that negative emotions — sadness, anger and fear are felt more intensely and last longer than positive emotions — joy, contentment and love. Point being, if you feel bad now, you’re likely to feel the same after 24 hours, but with the benefit of having thought it through. Putting off a good feeling, however, might mean missing the chance to do some good.
